ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – The Spanish Town police arrested and charged a suspect after allegedly finding a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in his possession during a patrol in Brunswick Avenue, Spanish Town St. Catherine, on September 22, 2023.
The authorities charged 52-year-old Jeffery ‘Dada’ Nizebeth, a farmer of a Brunswick Avenue address in Spanish Town, with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to reporting, at about 7:30 p.m., the police were on patrol in the community when they saw Nizebeth acting suspiciously upon seeing them.
The law enforcement officers accosted and searched the suspect. During the search, the police removed one 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing nineteen 9mm cartridges from his waistband.
The police arrested Nizebeth. The authorities subsequently charged him on Monday, September 25, 2023.
His court date is pending.
Police charged two suspects accused of pistol-whipping a man in Westmoreland.
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Police in Westmoreland arrested and charged two male suspects accused of pistol-whipping a man in the New Works District, Westmoreland, on September 11, 2023.
The police charged Oneil Dwyer, age 27, and Shamoy Bushay, age 23, both farmers and residents of the New Works District, with possession of a prohibited weapon, assault at common law, and unlawful wounding.
According to the Savanna-la-Mar police, at about 7:30 a.m., the complainant was walking along the New Works main road when Bushay and Dwyer pounced upon him.
Armed with a gun, Dwyer used the pistol and a stone to inflict wounds on the man before escaping.
The complainant reported the incident to law enforcement authorities, who launched an investigation.
The authorities apprehended Bushay during an operation on September 19, 2023, and Dwyer turned himself over to the police three days later.
The police formally charged the suspects on Monday, September 25, 2023. Their court date is pending.
Police charged a construction worker with shooting with intent.
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Law enforcement officers arrested and charged a suspect with breaches of the Firearms Act. The charges stemmed from an incident on Glen Drive, Kingston 8, in January 2023, during which the suspect allegedly brandished a gun and fired it at the complainant.
The police charged construction worker Oneil Wilson, o/c ‘Diego,’ and ‘Danda,’ age 20, of Quarry Hill, Spanish Town, St Catherine, with possession of a prohibited weapon, shooting with intent, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the Constant Spring police, at about 2:00 p.m., on the day in question, the complainant discovered that somebody had broken into his house. He decided to leave, and on his way out, the accused pulled a handgun and fired several shots in his direction.
The complainant escaped unhurt. And he made a report to the police. The police launched an investigation.
On Friday, September 22, 2023, the police arrested Wilson in the Red Hills Road community in St. Andrew. The police charged him on Monday, September 25, 2023, following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is pending.
