Police gunned down’Fry Eye’ in shoot out in Old Harbour.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, a suspect the police labeled as a person of interest in a case of murder was shot and killed during a confrontation with the police in Old Harbor, St Catherine. 

The police identified the deceased as Daniel Farquharson, o/c ‘Fry Eye’, of Succabba Gardens in Old Harbour.

According to reporting, at about 6:00 a.m., a team of law enforcement officers from the St Catherine South Police Division conducted a search and capture operation at the suspect’s home. 

The police said when they entered the house, Farquharson opened fire at them, forcing the team to take evasive action and return the fire, hitting the suspect and a woman. 

The police rushed the victims to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced Farquharson dead and admitted the women for treatment. The woman got shot in one of her legs.

The police recovered two firearms at the scene–one .22 revolver, a Glock pistol, and several rounds of ammunition.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has since launched a probe into the matter.

A Portmore father and 3-year-old son perished in a house fire.

A father and his three-year-old son perished in a fire at their home in Portmore Gardens, St. Catherine, on Wednesday morning, September 27, 2023.

The deceased are identified as Sherman Williams, 40, and his three-year-old son Cleon. 

According to reporting, the child was burnt to death, and his father succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, where the authorities admitted him for treatment. 

Preliminary reports Williams and his son had gone to bed. At about 11:00 p.m., neighbors saw a ball of fire coming from the appartment Williams and his son occupied and summoned the fire department. 

The fire brigade responded and force their way into the apartment, where the found the father lying by and clutching his son.

The Waterford Fire Station has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
