Cops believed they killed a former ‘Clansman in the Bog Walk Gorge.

Police believe the felony suspect killed during a shootout between police and gunmen traveling in a motor vehicle the police intercepted in the Bog Walk Gorge, St. Catherine, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, was an alleged Clansman gangster.

The police identified the deceased as Damaine Elleston, age 27, a late livestock farmer and welder.

The thug was among four, then 33 accused at the One Don faction of the Clansman gang trial who were freed in May 2022 after the prosecutors conceded that there was insufficient evidence to prove that those accused had committed the crimes the police charged them with.

The evidence did not convince the court that Elleston, along with Rushane Williams, Owen Ormsby, and Rivaldo Hylton, was part of a criminal organization.

The court also freed the four men of conspiracy charges to commit murder and arson, among other offenses.

At the end of the high-profile gang trial, The court only convicted 15 gangsters for crimes linked to the criminal organization. The judge will hand down the sentence on September 25, 2023.

The police arrested Elleston in June of 2022 during an operation in Dam Head, St Catherine. They later charged him with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition concerning an Intratec submachine gun and a 9mm pistol they seized during the operation. The court subsequently granted him bail.

Police now believe that the former accused gangster was among the gunmen who were involved in the fatal shooting of a man known as Dwayne Brown, alias’ Thelma Bwoy’, in Riversdale, St Catherine, earlier on Wednesday afternoon, September 13, 2023.

At about noon, the police were alerted that gunmen traveling in a motor car shot and killed Brown in Riversdale.

The police subsequently intercepted the motorcar in a section of the Bog Walk Gorge. And a shootout ensued.

When all was said and done, the police found Elleston suffering from gunshot wounds. He died in the hospital.
