The St Catherine South police have charged two alleged gangsters implicated in various crimes, including murder in Portmore. The men were among eight persons of interest the police asked to turn themselves in.

According to reporting, the police charged Phillip Scott with murder, being part of a criminal organization, knowingly conspiring with a criminal organization, and illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.
The police charged Tyrese Taylor with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition, and being part of a criminal organization.
The acting Commander of the Division, Superintendent Hopton Nicholson, confirmed the charges.
Nicholson hinted that the police could press charges against the remaining three men in custody once the police interview them.
The acting Commander said the police intend to topple criminal leaders within Watson Grove, Gregory Park, and surrounding communities in Portmore.
The court date for the two suspects is pending.
The police seized three firearms in two separate weekend operations.
A team of officers assigned to the Westmoreland Police Division seized two Taurus 9mm pistols and thirty-six 9mm cartridges during an operation in Gordon district, Whitehouse, Westmoreland, on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

According to reporting, at about 11:00 am, law enforcement officers conducted an operation in the area and searched a concrete structure. They found the firearms with two magazines in a shopping bag during the search.
The police did not make any arrests. The investigation continues.
In another operation on the same day, The Kingston West Police seized one .38 revolver loaded with four cartridges on Tulip Lane, Denham Town, Kingston, during a joint police/military operation.
According to the Denham Town Police, at about 11:00 am, law enforcement officers carried out an operation at premises in the community when the police searched an outside toilet and found the firearm inside a bag behind a gas cylinder.
Again, the police did not make any arrests concerning the seizure.
Police charged a 24-year-old St Thomas farmer with attempted murder.
Detectives from the Morant Bay Police Department charged a St Thomas farmer with attempted murder concerning a stabbing incident on August 2, 2023.

The police identified the suspect as Akiel Showder, age 24, a farmer from Arcadia District, St Thomas.
According to the police, at about 7:40 pm on August 2, 2023, Showder and the complainant locked horns in an altercation. Showder reportedly used a rachet knife to inflict several stab wounds on the complainant.
The police transported the injured man to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him.
The police arrested Shrowder and subsequently charged him following an interview in his attorney’s presence on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
His court date is pending.
