ST MARY, Jamaica— Residents in the quiet rural community of Dover, St Mary, are still in shock and awe after armed thugs gunned down two of their beloved residents on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
The police identified the deceased as Maurice ‘Marrow’ Edwards, age 68, a laborer, and his friend Michael Harris, o/c ‘Fresh Air’ or ‘Mickey’, age 57, unemployed.
According to reporting, at about 6:00 pm, on July 27, 2023, the two friends were sitting outside a bar in the community when a white Toyota Probox motor car pulled up. And armed thugs alighted and opened fire, hitting Edwards and Harris all over their bodies before escaping in the Probox.
Concerned residents alerted the police, and the police transported the injured men to the hospital, where they died.
They would later recover the Toyota Probos in a nearby community.
The Annotto Bay police are investigating.
The police arrested two cops after they allegedly abducted and beat a woman.
According to reports in the Streets, the police have taken two of their own into custody pending further investigation after they allegedly abducted and beat a woman last Saturday, July 22, 2023.
The two law enforcement officers in custody are police constable X and district constable X. The police withheld the names pending the outcome of the investigation.
The complainant is a 32-year-old woman reportedly in a relationship with the police constable.
According to the police report, the complainant and the police constable met in October 2021; their friendship would later morph into an intimate relationship.
On July 22 at about 8:00 pm, the complainant left home and went to stay with a friend living in a St Andrew community. They had planned to hit a beach in Portland the following day.
The police further stated that while the complainant was at her friend’s house, her jealous police boyfriend called to verify her location.
The police said the constable, accompanied by a district constable, drove a marked police service vehicle to the location and started to beat the complainant. He then grabbed her, forced her into the service vehicle, and continued to beat her.
The police constable later drove the service vehicle to a lonely street in Downtown Kingston. However, the woman jumped from the service vehicle and ran to the Marine Division, where she made a report.
The police subsequently apprehended the two suspects and placed them in custody pending further investigation.
