Gunmen fired upon a police patrol in Tivoli Gardens.

The police reported that on Sunday, July 16, 2023, a Kingston Western police team on patrol in Tivoli Gardens, Kingston, was reportedly fired upon by armed thugs who managed to escape.

The cops were reportedly in the Drecketts Place area of the Tivoli community when they observed two men acting suspiciously. 

The police said, upon seeing the patrol team, the men opened gunfire at the patrol and ran–evading the police in the process. 

The law enforcement officers said they proceeded along the same path the men took and found a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition.

The police said no one got hurt in the incident.

The Tivoli Gardens community is currently under a curfew.

Unknown thugs gunned down a car wash operator in St Elizabeth.

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – The St Elizabeth police confirmed that unknown assailants gunned down a car wash operator in Jointwood district, St Elizabeth, on Monday morning, July 17, 2023.

The police identified the deceased man as Jerome Wallace, o/c ‘African,’ age 33, a businessman, late resident of Jointwood, St Elizabeth. 

According to reports, Wallace was last seen alive on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at about 10:30 pm, when leaving a party he attended in an adjoining community. Residents reported that they heard loud explosions shortly after Wallace left the party.

On Monday, July 17, 2023, at about 5:30 am, residents found Wallace along the roadway with what appears to be gunshot wounds to his upper body.

The residents alerted the police, and upon arrival, the officers found Wallace lying face down with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. 

The police transported Wallace to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead. 

The police did not theorize a motive for the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

St James man killed while visiting girlfriend in a neighboring community.

ST JAMES, Jamaica – Detectives in Montego Bay are working to determine the motive behind the killing of a man as he visited his girlfriend in Coral Gardens, St James, on Monday, July 17, 2023.

The police identified the deceased as Ricardo Spence o/c ‘Richie Rich’ or ‘Canadian,’ age 40, a late resident of Church Hill, Flanker, St James.

According to the police, on Monday, July 17, at about 9:00 am, Spence was visiting his girlfriend in the Coral Gardens community when residents heard loud explosions and summoned the police.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found Spence lying face down in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds.

The police transported Spence to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where dead.

The officers could not establish a motive for the shooting. But an active investigation is in progress.
