Police shot and killed ‘Poppy’–one of St James’ most wanted thugs.

Security forces had shot and killed one of St James’ most wanted thugs Tuesday night, July 10, 2023, during a shootout in Mount Salem.

The police identified the slain criminal as Tevon ‘Poppy,’ Johnson, age 26. The streets regarded him as a high-ranking member of the Alliance gang. ‘Poppy’ was wanted by the police for several murders committed in St James.

According to reports, on Tuesday, July 10, 2023, at about 11 pm, a joint police-military team conducted a targeted raid at premises on Crawford Street in Mount Salem, St James. Johnson was the target. The police had gathered intelligence that ‘Poppy’ was hiding at the house. 

Upon arrival at the premises, the law enforcement officers encountered gunfire. They took evasive action and returned the fire. 

The security forces found Johnson’s lifeless body when all was said and done. The police recovered a pistol from the body.

The police stated that Johnson was one of the high-value criminals operating in St James. They have linked him to several crimes over the past several years.

The police charged a Hanover landscaper with assault at common law.

Hanover police reported that Sandy Bay Gum Shoes charged a landscaper after allegedly assaulting a female during an altercation over a mobile phone.

The police identified the accused as Adam Williams, age 31, a Montpelier, Sandy Bay, Hanover landscaper. 

According to the police, on Monday, July 10, 2023, They charged the accused with assault at common law, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, and malicious destruction of property.

According to the police report, on Monday, July 10, 2023, at about 10:30 am, the complainant stood at her gate in Montpelier when the accused approached her, and a confrontation developed.

The complainant alleges that the accused man took her cell phone and left. So, she went to his house to retrieve her phone, and Williams allegedly pulled a firearm and pointed it at her. The complainant said she left the premises immediately and made a report to the police.

The complainant further stated that while on her way home from the police station, she saw the accused, and he threw her cell phone on the ground and broke it.

The police later arrested and charged Williams.

The police are yet to decide on a court appearance date for the accused.
