A gun attack at a St Mary bar on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, left one man on ice and another hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

The gunmen also attacked a JDF soldier, but he escaped unharmed.

The police identified the deceased as Sanjay Stewart, age 31, a construction worker from Crooked River, St Mary. 

According to reports, on Tuesday, January 11, 2023, at about 4:30 pm, Mr. Stewart and the soldier were patrons at Crooked River bar when armed thugs entered the premises and opened gunfire at Mr. Stewart, hitting him and a salesperson several times.

According to unconfirmed chatter, Stewart and the soldier appeared to be the targets. But the soldier jumped into a vehicle and sped away.

Concerned citizens transported the injured men to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced Stewart dead and admitted the other man for treatment. 

The police recovered several spent casings at the scene. They did not theorize a motive for the shooting.

Police arrested a Manchester woman after finding a pistol in a bag she had.

MANCHESTER, Jamaica— On Wednesday, July 12, detectives arrested a Manchester woman in Compound District, in Alligator Pond, after they found a prohibited weapon and ammo in a bag she was carrying. 

According to a police source, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at about 7:30 am, a police team was on patrol in the community when a woman acting strange aroused their suspicion. 

The police apprehended the woman, and during a search of a bag she was carrying, the police found one .38 revolver along with 17 assorted rounds in a bag she had. 

The police withheld the woman’s identity pending further investigation.

Stepfather pleads guilty to rape, murder of 9-year-old Nikita Noel.

The brute, Omar Green, who the police charged with the gruesome rape and murder of nine-year-old Nikita Noel in Hanover earlier this year, pleaded guilty to the two counts when he appeared in the Hanover Circuit Court on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

Green, age 42, a construction worker from Barberry Hill in Lucea, will learn his fate when the court hands down the sentence on July 31, 2023. 

According to the court document, on February 1, 9-year-old Nikita Noel left home for school at about 7:00 am.

And when she didn’t return home from school at the usual time later that day, her mother became concerned and went to the Lucea Police Station and reported her missing. 

A search of the community by the police and residents led to the discovery of Nikita’s body in bushes at the side of the road from her house at about 7:30 pm.

A post-mortem revealed that a person, known or unknown, strangled Nikita. 

The police took Green into custody as a person of interest. The police charged him after forensic evidence confirmed that he had raped the child.
