The Lawrence Tavern police charged an 18-year-old female with murder after allegedly stabbing and killing her neighbor during an altercation in Mount Ogle St Andrew on July 8, 2023.

The police charged Rochelle Watson, o/c’ Miss Chin,’ age 18, a bartender and resident of Mount Ogle District, Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew, with the murder of Roy West, age 29, late laborer and resident of Mount Ogle.

According to the police, at about 8:30 pm, on July 8, 2023, Watson and West locked horns in a dispute, and Watson allegedly used a knife and stabbed West in the upper body.

The police transported West to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.

On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, the police arrested and charged Watson.

The police have not finalized a court appearance for Watson.

Anti-Gang Task Force arrested three alleged ‘Only The Family’ gang members and seized six guns in St James.

The police high command has reported that detectives have apprehended two females and one man, whom they believe are active members of the “dangerous” St James-based ‘Only The Family gang,’ following the confiscation of six guns and over 400 rounds of ammunition during an operation by the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force, in Green Pond, St James, on Wednesday, 2023. 

The guns the police recovered are:

• – AM-15 multi-calibre rifle 
• – Omni Hybrid multi-calibre AR-15 rifle
• – KMA-15 multi-caliber rifle (modified)
• – Browning pistol
• – Glock 19 pistol
• – Hellcat pistol

The 9mm rounds seized totaled 273, while the number of 5.56 cartridges totaled 192. 

In addition, the police seized firearm paraphernalia, including working parts, magazines, and holsters,

an undetermined sum of cash in Jamaican and United States currencies and several electronic devices. 

The police did not disclose any further details of the operation. And they withhold the names of the suspects pending further investigation.

The Joint Anti-Gang Task Force is a partnership between the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defence Force. Its primary function is to target guns, gunmen, and gangsters.
