At last, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Hon. Andrew Holness, declared war against gangs. Speaking with journalists in his Kingston West Central constituency on Thursday, July 13, 2023, the sycophant Prime Minister said we must eliminate gangs from society because they threaten Jamaica’s security.
I don’t know whether reasonable people should take the Prime Minister’s words with a grain of salt or they should take him seriously.
At one of his campaigns as Leader of the Opposition, he set forth several bullet points that he promised the people he was committed to getting done. However, it has been nearly eight years since taking the reins as Prime Minister; and to date, Mr. Holness still needs to complete his bullet points.
So, it sounds all good to talk tough on crime and gangs, but it is a different story regarding producing results.
Despite saying he believes the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defence Force can adequately address crime and gang warfare, Jamaica’s crime situation has worsened since Andrew Holness moved to Jamaica House.
Residents found a neighbor dead with chop wounds in his Annotto Bay home.
ST MARY, Jamaica – The Annotto Bay police reported that on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, residents found the lifeless body of a community member with several chop wounds at his home in Annotto Bay, St Mary.
The police identified the deceased as Patrick ‘Bongo Ricky’ Samuels, of PNP Lane in Annotto Bay, St Mary.
According to the Annotto Bay police, the assailant (s), known or unknown, murdered Samuels early Wednesday morning.
The police said neighbors heard a desperate plea for help from the deceased home. Upon investigation, they saw Samuels lying outside his one-bedroom wooden structure with several chop wounds.
The residents alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police rushed Samuels to the Annotto Bay Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
According to residents in the community, Samuels was a quiet person who, as far as they could tell, did not involve in any altercation with anyone.
The police could not theorize a motive for the attack. The investigation is ongoing.
