Teen girl, among three police charged after gun seizure in Spanish Town.

The police arrested and charged a teen girl and two men with breaches of the Firearms Act. The charges stemmed from seizing an illegal firearm and ammunition on St. Johns Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Monday, June 26, 2023.

The police identified the accused as Tassieo ‘Theo’ Hutchinson, age 36, a mechanic from St. Johns Road, and Jesse McLaren, age 19, a carpenter of Olympic Way, Kingston, 11, and a 16-year-old girl from Longville Park, Clarendon.

According to the police, at about 6:00 pm, on Monday, June 26, 2023, the Jamaica Eye team conveyed information to the St Catherine North Operation team about a suspected Toyota Axio motor car.

The Operation squad intercepted the vehicle along St. John’s Road in Spanish Town, St Cathrine, with the three accused on board.

The police searched the three occupants and the vehicle. During the search, the police found one Glock 9mm pistol with two magazines and nineteen 9mm cartridges inside the car.

The police arrested the three accused and charged them with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

The police have yet to decide a court date for the accused.

The police charged a Montego Bay teen and two other men with the seizure of a prohibited weapon on Strand Street, Montego Bay, St James, on Friday, June 23, 2023.

The police identified the adult accused as Clive ‘Greedy’ Lawson, age 22, of Catherine Mount in Montego Bay, and Richard ‘Trooper’ Kirlew, age 50, taxi operator, of Clarke Street, Mount Salem, St James.

The police charged the three accused with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

According to the Montego Bay police, on Friday, June 23, 2023, at about 6:30 pm, a police team was on patrol when they observed Lawson acting suspiciously as the police approached him.

Lawson tried to evade the police and entered a taxi. The police stopped and searched the cab and its occupants. During the search, they found one single-action Browning 9mm pistol and nine 9mm cartridges in the car.

The police took all three people into custody.

The police charged the three accused on Monday, June 26, following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their respective attorneys.

Their court date is pending.

St Elizabeth detectives are probing the shooting death of a man in Cambridge.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch are trying to establish the motive for the fatal shooting of a man in St. Elizabeth on Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023.

The police identified the deceased as Demar ‘Patra’ Green, age 30, a welder of the Speculation district, St Elizabeth. 

According to the police, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at about 5:00 am, residents in the Cambridge community reportedly heard loud explosions and alerted the police.

Upon the arrival of the police, they found Green’s lifeless body along Cambridge Main Road with multiple gunshot wounds.

The police revealed that Green’s killing was the third murder recorded in St. Elizabeth in the last four days.
