Residents living in the Cecil Garden community in Spanish Town, St Catherine, are fearful in the wake of the killing of a person on Walks Road, whom many say is the area don.
Investigators from St Catherine North Police have yet to ID the deceased, who appears to have been slain by members of a rival gang at about 10:30 pm, Monday night, June 5, 2023.
Residents summoned the police after hearing echoes of multiple explosions in the community. Upon arrival, the police found the lifeless body of a person lying face up on the ground with several bullet wounds to the head. No one should have to die like a dog in the streets. But if you lived by the gun, it is possible you will die by the gun.
It appears the deceased lived a secluded life because, so far, no one, including the police, has come forward to identify the body.
The police said the deceased is clad in a white T-shirt, blue jeans pants, and black and white sneakers. The body is of small stature, dark complexion, and is approximately 173 centimeters tall.
According to The Gleaner, everybody was tight-lipped when they visited the community. However, one resident broke their silence to whisper that the deceased was the don for Walks Road, and there are fears that a reprisal was imminent.
“A whole heap a problem now, the place a go get hot now because dem go kill the don fi Walks Road,” the resident warned.
