Detectives assigned to the Manchester Police Division have charged a man with two felonies-burglary and rape concerning a break-in incident in the Balvenie District, Manchester, on Monday, May 8, 2023.
On Thursday, June 1, 2023, law enforcement officers charged Matthew Smith, o/c ‘CJ,’ age 25, of Kingsland district, in the parish of Manchester, with burglary and rape.
According to the police, on May 8, 2023, a complainant and her children were at home sleeping when a loud sound within the apartment awoke the family. The complainant went to investigate and saw Smith and another man inside the house.
Smith overpowered the complainant and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her. Meanwhile, Smith’s accomplice rummaged through the house and stole $20,000 and two cellular phones valued at $40,000.
The complainant gave a statement to the Mandeville CIB. As a result, the police launched an investigation, which led them to apprehend and charge Smith on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
Smith’s court appearance date is pending.
In the meantime, the Manchester CIB department is asking anyone with information about Smith’s partner in crime to contact them at 876- 962-2832, 119 emergency number, or the closest police station.
The police charged a 42-year-old man with abduction, rape, and buggery of a minor.
The Portmore police reported that on Thursday, June 1, 2023, they apprehended and charged a St Catherine man they believed committed the felonies of abduction, rape, and buggery against a minor.
The police have identified the accused as Ramon Bennett, o/c ‘Screw,’ age 42, of Portsmouth, Portmore, St Catherine.
According to the Portmore police, between November 2021 and December 2022, the parents of a teenage girl contracted Bennett to transport the child, then 15, to a relative’s house. And from time to time, Bennett would park his vehicle on the compound of a recording studio and have unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor.
The complainant’s parents became aware of the unlawful act and made a report to the police. As a result, the police launched a probe. And on Thursday, June 1, 2023, the police arrested and charged Bennett.
