Mae Touissant Junior Thomas, the permanent secretary in Guyana’s Ministry of Home Affairs, has had her visa revoked by the United States.
Thomas broke her silence Wednesday, April 26, 2023, amid speculations concerning the confiscation of her government-issued mobile phone by US authorities at the Miami airport on April 8, 2023. She said she found out that the US revoked her visa two days after authorities seized her mobile phone.
But she disputed some of the chatter about what transpired in her interaction with US Immigration officials. She said most of what has been reported in the media is not true.
Thomas said immigration authorities referred her for a secondary routine check. But there needed to be a better understanding concerning her official mobile phone.
The authorities presented her with a decision: enter the US or proceed with her journey to China, where she was to attend training as part of a delegation from the ruling PPPC. She ultimately chose to continue on to China.
While returning from China, US immigration informed her that her US visa was revoked on April 10. They advised her to make alternative arrangements for her return to Guyana.
Jamaican producers have filed a lawsuit against Drake for allegedly infringing on their copyright with his song “One Dance.”

Jamaican music producers Wycliffe ‘Steely’ Johnson and Cleveland ‘Clevie’ Browne have taken legal action against Drake for allegedly infringing on their copyright with his hit song “One Dance.” The duo’s production company, Steely & Clevie Productions, filed an amended claim in a California court this week, identifying the defendants accused of violating their copyrighted work.
The lawsuit also mentions Stefflon Don, Justin Bieber, record labels, and distribution companies as other parties involved.
This lawsuit pertains to a piece of work from 1989 called ‘Fish Market,’ including its composition and sound recording. The lawsuit alleges that the artists named in the lawsuit copied this work without permission, violating its ownership and exclusive rights.
