An unknown assailant fatally stabbed a Sandy Bay Shopkeeper

HANOVER, Jamaica – On Saturday, March 18, 2023, an unknown assailant fatally stabbed a Sandy Bay shopkeeper at his workplace.

According to a police report, at about 5:45 pm, Christopher Hibbert was at his business place in Hopewell District, Sandy Bay, Hanover, when a man visited him soon after both men got into a physical altercation.

After the violent altercation between both men, residents found Hibbert suffering from multiple stab wounds. The police rushed him to the hospital, where he died during treatment. Hibbert was 21 years old when he died. The police deemed a rachet knife found at the crime scene the murder weapon.

The police are actively seeking the alleged killer who fled the scene.

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – A shooting incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, March 19 at the Portmore Pines Plaza in Portmore, St Catherine. Heavily armed men attacked a Berrylium security team at a Scotiabank automated teller machine. The incident happened less than one month after a similar incident occurred between gunmen and Berrylium guards at another ATM at the same location. One guard died in that incident.

The company confirmed the incident in a Berryllium media release late Sunday evening. It noted that the driver and three crew were injured. 

“We are cooperating with the police in their investigations. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with the crew and their family at this time.”
