
Fifty-seven individuals and three youth groups were shortlisted for the 2022 Prime Minister’s National Youth Awards for Excellence (PMNYAE).
The awards presentation will be held on Saturday, February 4, on the beautiful Lawns of Jamaica House, Devon Road, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The theme this year is REIGNITED!
Yanique Williams, acting Senior Director in the Youth and Adolescent Policy Division of the Ministry of Education and Youth (MOEY), made the announcement. She said the awards will be bestowed on young Jamaicans aged 15-29 who have achieved exceptional national and international distinction in various categories.

Nation-building
Music
National leadership
Innovation science/technology
Arts and Culture
Agriculture and agro-processing
Entrepreneurship/social entrepreneurship
Environmental protection.
In addition, the Prime Minister’s Special Award for Excellence, introduced in 2021, is also up for the taking. The recipient of this award may be an individual or an organization that excelled exponentially in their given field of work or study. Which Prime Minister Holness deems deserving of national recognition, as they embody the true meaning of resilience, innovation, and excellence.
According to Ms. Williams, the PMNYAE awards endorse each recipient as a positive role model for their peers. And seek to promote attitudinal change and social renewal by reinforcing the positive values of self-discipline, hard work, dedication, and humility.
She pointed out that the PMNYAE began in 1998 to recognize young Jamaicans who have excelled and contributed to national development because Jamaica’s youth population plays a meaningful and productive role in developing the nation.
The aim is to recognize and encourage hardworking young Jamaicans.
