Trending in Jamaica News: From Beauty Queen to recording artist, Toni Ann Singh wants to be a recording artist
Former Miss World Toni-Ann Singh feels the power of music in her soul. She thinks moving towards a music career could be her next adventure. Her fans think so too. And based on feedback from her recent collaboration (Next To Me) with Dancehall artist Popcaan, she may be closer to another crowning moment than people think.
A beauty queen turned recording artiste may seem far-fetched. But the former Miss World thinks she has it in her. In an interview with the Gleaner, she said this:
“A little girl from St Thomas became Miss World, so if there’s anything I can stand by, it’s that dreams are real and they can come true. So if that [a recording career] is to be the case for me in this life, I am open to it.”

People forgot that Toni-Ann won the hearts of millions worldwide with her voice in 2019 when she won Miss World. She genuinely loves music. And this is what she told the Gleaner:
“I love music. It is everything to me. It has always been my dream to actually enjoy my time on stage in a different way. Usually, there is a lot more pressure. I am the only person on stage; there is a ballad, there is a big note, and I don’t really get to relax, [so] often, instead, I take on the personality of whatever the character of the song is, and this is allowing me to use my voice.”

There are many speculations about the relationship between Toni-Ann and Popcaan. Some people think it’s platonic. Others believe the two people are in an eros relationship. Still, neither party had admitted anything, except when the Gleaner asked Toni-Ann about it, she responded thus, “All I’ll say is that there is only love between us, and a lot of it.”
Singh said working with Popcaan, whose real name is Andrae Sutherland, allows her to use her voice otherwise to write her lyrics and find her melodies while having fun and paying homage to her training. She also shared her mantra: “if God opens the door, I will step through it.” Furthermore, she said, if a career in music recording was in her destiny, it would happen.
