
Kingston, Jamaica – Veteran Jamaican keyboardist/pianist Tyrone Downie died in France last night. He was most known for his work with Bob Marley and The Wailers. And his most recent gig was with Jahzz, a France-based Reggae band.
He attended Kingston, joined The Wailers in the mid-70s, and made his recording debut with the band on the Rastaman Vibration album.
Before joining The Wailers, he was a member of the Impact All-Stars.
He has also played with The Abyssinians, Beenie Man, Black Uhuru,[3] Buju Banton, Peter Tosh, Junior Reid,[1] Tom Tom Club, Ian Dury, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, Alpha Blondy, Tiken Jah Fakoly and Sly & Robbie.
He was a resident of France at the time of his passing.
