Cops from St. Catherine and St. Ann have initiated separate investigations into a home invasion in which armed robbers allegedly stole $10 million from a couple in St. Catherine. The robbers also used the couple’s debit cards to make unauthorized transactions totaling $500,000 in St. Ann.
According to the police report, around 11 pm on Sunday, July 12, a 51-year-old businessman returned to his home in Pleasant Farm, St. Catherine, where two armed men confronted him.
The gunmen reportedly forced the businessman at gunpoint to enter the house, where they tied him and his wife up before ransacking the premises. The robbers stole $10 million in cash and demanded the couple’s debit cards along with their personal identification numbers (PINs).
After obtaining the cards and PINs, the men contacted an accomplice by telephone. This accomplice drove to St. Ann, where more than $500,000 was withdrawn or spent through unauthorized transactions using the stolen cards.
The two gunmen then fled the scene.
Later, the couple managed to free themselves and reported the incident to the police.
The Linstead police in St. Catherine are leading the investigation, with support from detectives in St. Ann, as they continue efforts to identify and apprehend the robbers.
Hoodlums shot and killed ‘Scabo’ in St Thomas: Cops launched investigation.
Cops in St. Thomas are investigating the fatal shooting of a beloved vendor in the Ball Ground community on Sunday night.
Investigators have identified the victim as Valmore Anthony Henry, also known as ‘Scabo,’ 47, from Danvers Pen in St Thomas.
Reports indicated that the incident likely occurred around 11:10 PM, when residents in the Ball Ground community heard explosions.
Upon investigating the situation, residents found ‘Sabo’ with gunshot wounds and notified the police.
Upon arrival, cops found ‘Scabo’ lying in a pool of red substance and quickly transported him to Princess Margaret Hospital. But it was too late to save him, the authorities pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Investigators have yet to determine a motive for the shooting.
Cops from the Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch are conducting the investigation into the incident.
