School officials have launched an investigation into allegations that two female students at a high school in Clarendon were allegedly provided with alcohol and the drug MDMA by a teacher last Friday. According to Radio Jamaica News, one of the minors became unresponsive after consuming the drugs and alcohol.

Reportedly, the authorities took both students to the Percy Junior Hospital for treatment.

Many individuals, including the students’ relatives and some community members, are dissatisfied with the law enforcement’s response. They feel that the police have not given the matter the attention it deserve, and are calling for greater accountability.

Investigation Launched. A meeting was reportedly held on Monday involving the girls’ parents, school administrators, and the teacher involved in the incident.

It remains unclear whether the school took any further action following the meeting.

Children’s Advocate Diahann Gordon Harrison expressed great surprise and concern about the allegations, stating, “This is unacceptable behavior. The initial information we have received highlights misuse by individuals in certain institutions. They can influence children both positively and negatively.” Her strong condemnation of the incident underscores the gravity of the situation.

A man was out on bail for murder and illegal possession of a firearm. Police fatally shot him in St. James over the weekend.

The man, identified as 30-year-old Leonardo Murray, also known as “Bigga Ninja,” was from Hart Street, Montego Bay.

Investigation Launched. According to the St. James police, around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, they conducted a targeted operation on Hart Street in search of wanted individuals.

During the operation, the police allege that Mr. Murray pointed a weapon at them, which led to him being shot fatally.

The police noted that Mr. Murray was out on bail for charges of murder and weapons possession. One of the conditions of his bail was that he must reside in Westmoreland and stay away from St. James.

Investigation Launched .The Independent Commission of Investigation is currently looking into the incident.

Since the beginning of January, there have been approximately 12 fatal shootings involving security forces.
