Everald Warmington’s Fiery Speech: A Defense of Andrew Holness.

Everald Warmington's disgraceful racially charged attack on Mark Golding has ignited outrage throughout Jamaican society.

Everald Warmington, MP, made headlines again on Sunday with his fiery speech at the Jamaica Labor Party’s (JLP) constituency conference for St. Catherine Southeastern.

Addressing a gathering of party supporters, Everald Warmington said he would continue to warn that the RJR Gleaner Communications Group is trying to tarnish Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ reputation.

Despite the JLP government’s condemnation of recent attacks on the media, Everald Warmington told the crowd that he would not allow anyone to silence him.

“I am saying again that the agenda of the Gleaner company and RJR is to remove Andrew Holness and the labor party,” he exclaimed.

“So last week, when they claimed the government condemned me, let me talk today as a laborite. If the Labor Party comes out tomorrow to condemn what I say, I will repeat it tomorrow because nobody is going to shut me up.”

Further, the controversial MP told the cheering crowd that he would do all he could to guarantee the JLP gets a third term.

“They attacked Edward Seaga and Bruce Golding…now they have gone on Andrew Holness.

So, as Laborites, we must defend our leader at all costs. We will protect Andrew Holness to death,” he continued.

Last week, Warmington blasted the RJR Gleaner Communications Group, ultimately resulting in the Press Association of Jamaica issuing a statement calling for the government and other political leaders to condemn such attacks.

Responding to questions from journalists after the incident, Information Minister Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon said the government supports the media and condemned the attacks and accusations made by political operatives and supporters against journalists and media houses.
