According to a news article on MSN.com, reviewing the first and perhaps the only 2024 presidential debate between Kamala Harris– Republican strategists hoped Trump would stick to the issues and avoid personal attacks against Kamala Harris.
Yet, a leopard can’t change its spots, nor can Trump change his modus Operandi.
The article gave Vice President Harris credit for tricking Trump into making false claims and pushing ridiculous conspiracy theories.
For example, Trump stated that that migrants were eating people’s cats and dogs in Ohio, and falsely claimed that Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, favors aborting babies “after birth.”
The article says that on Wednesday morning on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” regular guest and Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson commented that Harris “knew what buttons to push.” Robinson said Harris gave Trump a verbal “beatdown” and got under his skin in Philly.
The article further stated that NOTUS, a new Washington nonprofit publication reporters, Alex Roarty, Ben T.N. Mause, Reese Gorman, and Jasmine Wright stated in their debate analysis, that Harris “appeared to anger Trump visibly.”
Also, a GOP source described by the journalists as someone “close to Trump” acknowledged that the debate didn’t go well for the former president.
“This is what he gets for taking counsel from Laura Loomer,” the source told NOTUS.
Loomer is a Florida-based far-right MAGA activist known for pushing debunked conspiracy theories. And the NOTUS reporters note that Loomer “traveled to Philadelphia with Trump on his plane.”
