Shooting Incident in St. Andrew Under Police Investigation
The St. Andrew North Police have initiated an investigation into the tragic shooting of two men, one of whom succumbed to his injuries, as they were walking along Mannings Hill Road in St. Andrew on the night of August 2, 2024.
The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Orlando McDermott from Glen Drive in St. Andrew. One of the men is in stable condition in the hospital.
According to the police report, at approximately 10:10 p.m., armed individuals opened fire on the two men as they were walking along Mannings Hill Road. Upon the police’s arrival, both victims were found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The officers promptly facilitated the transfer of the victims to the hospital. Unfortunately, McDermott was pronounced dead upon arrival, while the other victim was admitted for medical treatment.
The investigation into this distressing incident is ongoing.

Hit-and-Run Tragedy in Westmoreland, Jamaica
A heartbreaking incident unfolded on the evening of August 2, 2024, in Little London, Westmoreland, as a teenage boy from Top Road tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run.
The victim, identified as Zayne Foster by local authorities, had gone to a community shop to buy food around 8:30 p.m. Unfortunately, as he exited the shop located near the road, he was struck by a motor car whose driver then fled the scene.
The Little London police are actively seeking information and are relying on CCTV footage to aid in their investigation of this tragic event. Regrettably, the young boy succumbed to his injuries, leaving the community in mourning.
Fatal Incident in Sandy Bay, Clarendon.
A man was fatally shot in Sandy Bay, Clarendon, on Friday night, August 2, 2024, by unknown assailants.
The deceased was identified as 31-year-old Dwight Willshire of Inverness Drive in the Sandy Bay community.

According to the Clarendon police, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a team of law enforcement officers on mobile patrol in the community heard gunshots and quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found Willshire with gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Willshire was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Clarendon Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is now investigating the incident.
Taxi operator assaulted and robbed by assailants disguised as women, perpetrators apprehended
The Half-Way Tree police have officially charged three individuals who disguised themselves as women and proceeded to rob and violently assault a taxi operator at a residence in Mona, St Andrew, on the evening of Friday, August 2, 2024.

Authorities have identified the individuals as 26-year-old Jovonnie Miller, also known as ‘Jade’, from Three Hill district, St Mary; 23-year-old Dwight Davis, also referred to as ‘Kayla’, from Little London, Westmoreland; and 19-year-old Nickyle Hutchinson, also known as ‘Tahlia’, a cosmetologist from West Street in Kingston.
The police have laid charges of robbery with aggravation against the accused.
According to the police report, at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Davis, Hutchinson, and Miller, disguised as women, hailed a taxi at the Cross Roads bus park in St Andrew and requested to be taken to Gerbera Drive in Mona.
Upon arrival, Davis allegedly threatened the taxi operator with a knife, seized the vehicle’s ignition key, and proceeded to forcibly remove the driver from the vehicle.
The accused individuals reportedly confiscated the cab driver’s cell phone before dragging him into a nearby residence, where they proceeded to steal a tablet computer and another phone.
The police indicated that the culprits then subjected the taxi operator to severe physical assault.
After the victim’s report to the authorities, the police promptly conducted an operation at a residence, apprehended the suspects, and proceeded to press charges against them.
Their court date is yet to be determined.
