Leader of Notorious Gang Fatally Shot in Confrontation with Law Enforcement in St. James.

Police Report Sez: On Friday, the police fatally shot a suspect, and an officer narrowly escaped serious injury when a bullet struck his protective vest. The incident occurred during an alleged confrontation in the Farm community near Effortville, Clarendon, Jamaica. Also, Law enforcement officials in the St. Catherine North Police Division have expressed concerns over a rise in sexual offenses involving children. Senior officers have warned that many of the perpetrators are known to the victims.

The Police High Command has verified that law enforcement officers in St. James have eliminated the reported leader of the Dump faction of the 13th Street gang during an encounter on Wednesday night, June 5, 2024, in the Retirement community.

The deceased was identified by the police as Ackeem Bowen, also known as ‘Wrizla’.

As per the authorities, Bowen was released on bail for the illegal possession of a prohibited weapon.

The police asserted that Bowen was deeply involved in lottery scamming and was suspected of having a stockpile of illicit weapons under his command–he was known to be domineering towards certain residents.

According to SSP Eron Samuels, Commanding Officer for the St. James Police Division, Bowen was a person of interest in several homicides and shootings across St. James and neighboring parishes.

Samuels stated that the police had gone to execute a warrant on him when they encountered gunfire.

The police responded with evasive action and returned fire. Following the cessation of the shooting, the police breached the premises and found the suspect clutching a firearm and sustaining what appeared to be gunshot wounds on his upper body.

The officers swiftly transported Bowen to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

In response to the gangster’s demise, residents blocked the road to the community in protest.

SSP Samuels took a firm stance and implored residents not to compel the police to use force as they worked to contain the situation.

Detectives in Westmoreland have initiated an investigation into the suspicious death of Crofton Ewers, a 26-year-old fisherman, who died at Pedro Cays in St Elizabeth on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

According to the Marine police, at about 4 p.m., Ewers and a group of men reportedly went deep-sea fishing, after which he had difficulty breathing.

According to reports, Ewers received triage on the Cay, and he was subsequently transferred to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.

The authorities have scheduled a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

A police constable is recovering from injuries, and a man armed with a machete has died after a regrettable event in Hyattsfield, St. Ann, on the morning of Thursday, June 6, 2024.

The deceased was identified by authorities as Herbert Hinds from Hyattsfield, St Ann.

Reports state that around 9 a.m., three officers from the Ocho Rios station attended to a complaint alleging Mr. Hinds violated a restraining order.

Upon the arrival of the police, Mr. Hinds fled into the underbrush, with the officers in pursuit.

Shortly after that, Hinds, brandishing a machete, confronted Constable White. Despite the officer’s commands to relinquish the weapon, Hinds continued his advance.

Approaching the officer, Hinds inflicted wounds on the constable’s hand and face. Constable White then retreated and fired his weapon, striking Hinds.

Both individuals were taken to the hospital, where Hinds was declared dead and Constable White received treatment.

Four residents of Manchester have been charged by the police with robbery and possession of a prohibited weapon following an incident in the Whitby district on March 20, 2024.

The accused individuals are Shamar Foster, also known as ‘TJ,’ aged 20, from Balleynure district; Osanie’ Sanie Tulloch, aged 24, from Shields Bush district in Mile Gully; Jovaun Levy, also known as ‘Joes’ aged 24, from Sedburg district, and Janie Campbell, a laborer from Hopewell district.

The charges stem from an alleged armed robbery at a community bar in Whitby around 9:15 p.m. on March 20, 2024. It is claimed that the four men, armed with guns, held the victims at gunpoint and proceeded to rob them of cell phones and an undisclosed sum of cash from poker boxes before fleeing the scene.

Following an investigation by the Mandeville police, the accused individuals were identified during an identification parade and subsequently charged. They are scheduled to appear before the Manchester Parish Court on June 12, 2024.

Portmore police have charged a watchman from Old Harbor with housebreaking and larceny in Braeton, St. Catherine. The accused, 25-year-old Omar Walker, also known as Luke, hails from Bullet Tree District in Old Harbor.

Authorities have accused Walker of breaking into an institution in Braeton, Portmore, between May 22 and May 27, 2024. He is alleged to have gained entry to the establishment’s lobby using keys and stolen $76,500 in cash. Subsequently, the complainant filed a report, prompting a police investigation that resulted in Walker’s arrest and subsequent charges.

Walker’s scheduled court appearance date is yet to be determined.
