A young call center employee tragically passed away after being struck by a tractor.

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica—Tragedy struck once again on the Jamaican thoroughfare as a call center worker lost her life on Friday, May 31, 2024, after being struck by a tractor on Walks Road in St Catherine.

The woman who lost her life has been identified as 22-year-old Brittny Hunter from Commodore in Linstead, St Catherine.

Reports suggest that at around 8:30 a.m., Hunter tragically walked into the path of an oncoming tractor.

Despite the efforts of a Good Samaritan who rushed her to Spanish Town hospital, she was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival by the authorities.

The minister of transport offered condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and urged road users to exercise caution when traversing the public thoroughfare.

It is with great sadness that we report the loss of life in a road accident in Granville. According to authorities from the Trelawny Traffic Department, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, Winston Clarke, 40, from Bounty Hall, Trelawny, lost his life in a collision involving the motorcycle he was driving and a motorcar.

The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. when Clarke’s motorcycle collided with a Toyota Voxy while traveling towards Falmouth. The impact of the collision propelled Clarke into the windscreen of the Voxy before he landed on the ground, sustaining multiple wounds. Despite the assistance of passersby and prompt medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Winston Clarke during this difficult time. We also wish a speedy recovery to the driver of the Voxy, who sustained minor injuries in the accident.

Police charged an alleged gangster with murders, arson, and beheading in Gregory Park.

The St Catherine police indicted an alleged St Catherine gangster concerning several incidences of murder, shootings, arson, and beheading committed in Gregory Park in Portmore, St Catherine, in 2021 and 2023.

The authorities named the accused man Tyrese Taylor, o/c ‘Reddy,’ age 23, of Dover Avenue, Gregory Park, St Catherine. The police allege that Taylor is a prominent member of the infamous ‘Chargie Badness Gang.’

The police charged Taylor on Thursday, May 30, 2024, following intensive investigations into violent incidents committed in Portmore in 2021 and 2023.

Taylor faces four counts of murder, assault at common law, unlawful wounding, aiding and abetting, shooting with intent, arson, being a member of a criminal organization, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

His court appearance date is pending.

According to the police, on August 9, 2021, Taylor and other alleged members of the gang, armed with firearms, went to a restaurant and allegedly opened fire, hitting 39-year-old Omar Ricketts of Christian Pen, Gregory Park, St Catherine, before escaping on foot in the area.

Ricketts succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Four months later, on December 18, 2021, at about 9:30 a.m., Taylor and other alleged gang members allegedly entered a premises in the community, held two men at gunpoint, and bound their hands with electrical cords. Then, they beat one of the men severely.

The gunmen proceeded to another premises, where they allegedly held another man at gunpoint and severed his head. Then, the gunmen escaped with the severed head, which residents on Cottage Drive later discovered.

The authorities identified the deceased as 30-year-old Rafiel Natty of Job Lane, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

His severed head was discovered hours later by residents on Cottage Drive in Gregory Park.

At about 3:00 a.m. on August 12, 2023, Taylor and other alleged members of the gang went to Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park, where they shot and killed 28-year-old Raneel Haughton, a taxi operator of Walkers Avenue.

The assailants then made their way to another premises on Walkers Avenue, where they allegedly set several homes on fire, injuring 72-year-old Niomi Gocul, who later died.

The police apprehended Taylor during an operation in the parish.

The police continue to search for the other suspects.
