Tragedy struck on Wednesday in Lindo’s Hill in Whithorn, Westmoreland, when a fatal collision involving a Toyota Succeed motor car and three other vehicles resulted in the loss of two lives. The male driver of the Toyota Succeed and a female passenger in the Toyota Axio tragically lost their lives at the scene.
According to reports, the Toyota Succeed was heading towards Whithorn when the driver lost control, leading to a collision involving a gas tanker, a garbage truck, and a Toyota Axio.
Eyewitnesses reported that passersby assisted four individuals to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, but their current conditions remain unknown. Emergency vehicles responded to the scene and provided vital assistance.
The authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the collision.
A teen motorcyclist died after colliding with the back of a truck in St Ann.
An 18-year-old man, Dontae Morris of Steerfield in Golden Grove, St Ann, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle collision with a truck in Steerfield on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. when Morris, riding his motorcycle along the main road of his community, crashed into the rear of a truck.
He suffered severe injuries and was taken to the hospital by a good samaritan, where he passed away during treatment.
The St Ann police are currently investigating the accident.
Two individuals were apprehended in Westmoreland as law enforcement confiscated illicit firearms.
The Westmoreland Police apprehended two individuals following the confiscation of two unauthorized firearms and ammunition during a focused operation in the Geneva district on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
Superintendent Othniel Dobson, the Commanding Officer for Westmoreland, stated that the operation, which lasted three hours, took place in the Morgan’s Bridge police area with the aim of apprehending known offenders.
The operation resulted in the seizure of two unauthorized firearms and fifteen rounds of ammunition.
Two suspects were detained in relation to the confiscation.
Superintendent Dobson pledged that the Westmoreland Police will persistently strive to purge the division of criminal gangs and reduce crime rates.
He called for the community’s support in collaborating with the police to enhance the division’s safety.
