St. Elizabeth Farmer Fatally Shot in Elim Gun Attack.
The community of Elim in St. Elizabeth is reeling from the recent fatal shooting of a 43-year-old farmer, Grassett Griffiths, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Reports indicate that around 9 p.m., Mr. Griffiths was with three others at a local shop when assailants stormed in and fired shots, fatally wounding him in the head.
Subsequently, the attackers set the shop ablaze and forced entry into an adjacent house before fleeing the scene.
This incident marks at least the fifth murder in the community since December 2023.
As of now, the police have not determined the motive for the shooting, and their investigation continues.
Spanish Town Police Arrested 62-year-old Suspect for Stabbing Incident.
A suspect, identified as Anthony McLean, also known as ‘Kanie’, aged 62 and residing at Kool Kat Lane in Thompson Pen, St Catherine, has been charged by the authorities with wounding with intent. The charges stem from an incident on Thursday, March 21, 2024, when McLean allegedly stabbed a woman during an argument at his residence.
According to reports from the Spanish Town Police, the altercation occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. when McLean and the woman were at his home. The argument escalated, leading McLean to wield a knife and stab the woman in her lower back and left side.
Following the incident, the complainant reported the matter to the police, who arrested and charged McLean after a thorough investigation.
McLean is scheduled to appear in court on May 7, 2024.

Detectives at the May Pen Criminal Investigations Branch in Clarendon are seeking the public’s assistance as they investigate the tragic death of a 69-year-old man, whose body was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds along Foga Road in Four Paths, Clarendon.
The deceased has been identified as Gifford Turlon from a residence in Cherry Tree Lane.
According to police reports, residents found Turlon’s lifeless body early Monday in the Cherry Lane community. Upon their arrival, authorities found the victim on the ground, having suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.
Following the discovery, law enforcement officers transported the body to the hospital, where Turlon was officially pronounced deceased.

Tragic Motorcycle Accident Claims Life in Portland.
Early Wednesday morning, May 1, 2024, a Portland motorcyclist was fatally injured after his motorcycle crashed into a bridge on the main Woodstock road in Portland. The victim was identified by authorities as 30-year-old Romaroo Reid.
Police reports indicate that around 12:35 a.m., Reid was operating his motorcycle on Woodstock Road when he lost control and struck a bridge.
Responding quickly to the accident, police transported Reid to the hospital. Despite their efforts, Reid passed away from his injuries, and his death was confirmed by officials.
