St. James police have identified a man sought in connection with a woman’s murder among other incidents.

The St James police have identified Javaughn Cooke, also known as ‘Jahmie’ or ‘Jah Jah,’ of Lower Hill, St James, as a murder and wounding with intent suspect.

According to reports from the Montego Bay police, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, around 3:30 pm, armed individuals entered a residence and fired shots at a woman and other family members through a bedroom window.

Following the shooting, two women were found with gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital. Regrettably, one of the women was pronounced deceased, while the other remains in serious condition.

The Montego Bay CIB is appealing to Cooke to surrender to the authorities immediately.

Furthermore, the police are requesting anyone with information that may aid their inquiries to contact them at 876-979-8452, the Police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311, the NIB Tip Line at 811, or the nearest police station.

Investigators in the St Catherine North Police Division are conducting a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a man on St John’s Road in Spanish Town on the night of April 20, 2024.

The victim has been identified as Garfene Edwards of Newland district, Portmore, St Catherine.

Around 10:50 p.m., residents reported hearing loud gunshots along St John’s Road.

When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found Edwards lying in a passageway with gunshot wounds to his upper body.

He was promptly taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead.

A 21-year-old man, identified as Alex Williams of Savannah Cross, was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with an off-duty policeman in Savannah Cross, Clarendon, on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

According to police reports, an altercation ensued between the two men, during which Williams allegedly attempted to use a machete to attack the policeman, resulting in the fatal shooting.

The incident has been reported to the Inspectorate of Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) for further investigation.
