St Thomas Resident Fatally Shot in Home Invasion in Hanover

A resident of St Thomas met a tragic end when he was fatally shot during a home invasion in Hanover.

A man from St. Thomas was fatally shot, and another man was injured by an unidentified attacker in New Town, Cousins Cove, Hanover, on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Kevin Williams from Llandewey district, St. Thomas.

According to the police report, the men were home around 8 p.m. when a white car pulled into the yard and stopped. A man carrying a firearm got out of the vehicle, entered the house, and opened fire, injuring both men.

The police arrived and transported the injured individuals to the hospital. Unfortunately, Williams succumbed to his injuries, while the other man was admitted for treatment.

The motive behind the attack is still unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.

Clarendon police charged a fourteen-year-old boy with alleged sexual assault following an incident that occurred in Clarendon on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

According to the police allegation, at about 5 p.m., the teenage boy allegedly lured a seven-year-old girl behind a tree and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

On Tuesday, April 9, the complainant pointed out the teen to the police in his parent’s presence.

His appearance before the Clarendon Parish Court in May Pen is pending.

The Falmouth police have charged a forty-three-year-old man, Damion Mais of Water Lane, Falmouth, in Trelawny, for the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Rock district, Trelawny, on Monday, March 18, 2024.

Reports from the Falmouth police indicate that Mais allegedly approached the woman around 5:00 p.m., wielding what appeared to be a gun, and compelled her into a secluded area where he reportedly assaulted her.

On April 1, 2024, the complainant identified Mais to the police in Falmouth, resulting in his arrest and subsequent formal charges after questioning. He is set to appear before the Trelawny Parish Court on Friday, April 12.

In a fortunate turn of events, two policemen and the prisoners involved were injured in a St. Ann crash.

Two police officers and two prisoners emerged with non-life-threatening injuries following a motor vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in St. Ann.

According to preliminary reports, at about 8:30 a.m., a service vehicle assigned to the Hanover Police Division was en route to Kingston with two prisoners aboard. Unfortunately, due to the wet road surface, the driver lost control of the vehicle on reaching a section of the Runaway Bay main road.

The service vehicle crashed into a wall and stopped beside a bus stop, causing extensive damage.

The injured police officers and their prisoners were promptly given medical treatment at the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital. Fortunately, the hospital later released all four victims in stable condition.
