The St. Ann police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the passing of an American tourist on Sunday.
Joan Grocia-Tomlinson, a 61-year-old administrative assistant from Atlanta, Georgia, tragically passed away on Sunday, just two days after expressing discomfort due to a stomach ache.
Radio Jamaica News has reported that the American visitor arrived on the island on Friday, April 5, 2024, and checked into a hotel in Beecher Town, Ocho Rios.
However, later that day, she began experiencing abdominal pain and was promptly taken to St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, where she received medical attention before being discharged.
Ms. Grocia-Tomlinson once again experienced the same abdominal discomfort on Sunday evening, April 7, 2024, and was rushed back to the hospital. Unfortunately, she passed away while undergoing treatment sometime after 10:00 p.m.
An autopsy is scheduled to be carried out to ascertain the cause of her passing.
Shocking Incident in St. Andrew: Taxi Operator Fatally Shot, Another Injured.
In a disturbing turn of events, one taxi operator lost his life, and another was wounded in a tragic shooting in St. Andrew.

Gunmen carried out an attack on White Hall Avenue in St. Andrew on Sunday, resulting in the death of a taxi operator and leaving another operator injured from bullet wounds.
Around 4:45 p.m., residents of White Hall Avenue were startled by gunshots and later discovered Shawn Granville, a 38-year-old taxi operator from Bull Bay, suffering from bullet wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was tragically pronounced dead.
Following the initial attack, another taxi operator arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds and is currently receiving medical care.
The police are working to determine the motive behind this violent assault.
Fatal Shooting in Cassava Piece Leaves One Dead, Another Injured.
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Tragedy struck when a man was fatally shot, and another was wounded during a targeted attack at a bar on Glen Drive in Cassava Piece, Kingston 8, on Monday afternoon, April 8, 2024.

Authorities suspect that the violent incident is linked to an ongoing feud between rival gangs in the community.
The victim, 33-year-old Alfeno Ledgister, also known as ‘Reds’, resided on Manor View Drive in the same area. The injured individual is also a resident of the community.
According to reports, at approximately 1:15 p.m., the two men were inside the bar when two armed assailants arrived in a grey Subaru sedan.
The gunmen proceeded to open fire inside the bar, resulting in fatal injuries to Ledgister and inflicting serious wounds on the other man.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found Ledgister inside the bar, seated with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital, where medical staff pronounced him deceased.
A community member transported the injured man to the hospital, where it was determined that he had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen.
The assailants fled towards Mannings Hill Road in the Subaru above motor vehicle, evading immediate capture.
Three individuals detained after Manchester Bar robbery.
Manchester police demonstrated swift action and successfully apprehended three out of four suspected robbers during an operation at Fine Grass in Chudleigh on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
Additionally, law enforcement was able to seize a 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing three 9mm cartridges, marking the second successful seizure in less than 24 hours.
At around 9 p.m., four individuals, two of whom were armed, unlawfully took possessions from patrons at a shop. Despite the troubling circumstances, the police were alert and swiftly erected roadblocks in response to the reported robbery.
Their efforts led to the interception of a Toyota Voxy carrying three suspected robbers. The authorities’ effective utilization of intelligence directed the officers to an abandoned building, which was the scene of a double murder in Providence, Christiana, on January 3, 2023, where they successfully recovered some of the stolen items.
The authorities have withheld the names of the suspects pending formal charges.
