Farmer Sentenced to Four Months for Demanding Sex from Woman at Gunpoint
Kevon Lewis, a 31-year-old farmer from Slipe district in St Elizabeth, was convicted earlier this month in the St Elizabeth Circuit Court for an incident that occurred on February 25, 2022. On this date, while transporting a 36-year-old woman to an event, Lewis reportedly pulled a firearm and demanded sexual favors from her.
When she resisted, he became agitated, discharged the weapon, and then proceeded to transport her to the event.
The woman reported the incident to the Black River police, who subsequently arrested Lewis after his mother handed him over. He was sentenced to four months in prison for the firearm charge and four months for assault, with the sentences to run concurrently, by Chief Justice Bryan Sykes on March 15, 2024.
Labourer charged with 2023 murder.
ST JAMES, Jamaica – The St James police have filed charges against a laborer in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in the Mount Pleasant district of Westmoreland on June 8, 2023.
The individual in question has been identified as Trevaughn McDonald, a 24-year-old laborer from Nany Avenue, Rose Heights, St James. He faces charges of murder, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of ammunition.
The deceased has been identified as Damion Henry, also known as ‘Frass,’ aged 40, a farmer from Content District in Westmoreland.
According to the police report, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Henry was standing along the Mount Pleasant main road conversing with friends when a Toyota Axio motorcar approached. Allegedly, McDonald, armed with a firearm, emerged from the front passenger seat and proceeded to open fire at Henry, inflicting multiple wounds before making his escape in the Axio.
Upon police arrival, Henry was promptly taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Following an investigation into the shooting, McDonald was apprehended by authorities. Subsequently, he was formally charged on Saturday, March 16, 2024, following a questioning session in the presence of his legal counsel.
His court appearance is now pending.
Police charged suspect with Christmas Day fatal shooting.
St Catherine, Jamaica – Police in St Catherine have pressed charges against a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Reid’s Pen, Portmore, St Catherine on Christmas Day, December 25, 2023.
The police have identified the accused as Kimani Jackson, also known as ‘Mani’, a 22-year-old electrician from Reid’s Pen in Portmore, St Catherine.
Jackson has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old Romario Reid, a driver from Cressa Lane, Old Braeton in St Catherine. Additionally, he faces charges of conspiracy to murder, using a firearm to commit a scheduled offense, being part of or participating in a criminal organization, possession of a prohibited firearm, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to reports from the Portmore police, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Jackson was allegedly involved in an altercation with Meade, during which one of the men in the group reportedly drew a firearm and fatally shot Meade before fleeing the scene.
Following an investigation by the police, Jackson was arrested and subsequently charged after an interview session in the presence of his attorney. The police are currently seeking the other individuals involved in the incident.
The date of Jackson’s court appearance is pending.
Area 1 detective charged two men with a 2023 double murder in Hertford District, Westmoreland.
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Two men, Shevon Vernon, 24, and Neiko Findlay, 26, both laborers of Hertford district in Savann-la mar, Westmoreland, have been charged with a double murder that occurred in Cornwall, Hartford district, Westmoreland, on July 14, 2023.
Accused of murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony, the two men allegedly attacked Emron Hanson, 22, and Brian Tulloch, 38, with gunfire while they were at a house around 8:30 p.m. Hanson and Tulloch, hailing from Three Miles River and Bath districts in Westmoreland, respectively, tragically succumbed to their injuries after being transported to the hospital.
After an investigation, Vernon was arrested following his appearance at the Westmoreland Circuit Court on March 14, 2024, and was formally charged after a witness positively identified him as one of the perpetrators. Findlay had previously been charged on October 11, 2023.
