Tragic Incident in St Catherine, Jamaica—A devastating event occurred in Central Village, St Catherine, on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024, resulting in the tragic deaths of four individuals, including a three-year-old child, in a reported firebombing.

It is reported that the assailants set the house ablaze sometime after 1 a.m., leading to the untimely deaths of a mother, her two daughters, and her three-year-old grandson. Disturbingly, residents in the vicinity heard screams emanating from the engulfed house.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been disclosed.
This marks the second suspected firebombing incident in Central Village within 24 hours, following the death of a man and the destruction of his home the previous day.
The St Catherine police have launched a probe into the tragic incident.
Guard Killed and Two Others Injured in Ocho Rios Cambio Robbery.
The St Ann police have initiated a search for the assailants responsible for the tragic shooting incident at a Cambio/currency exchange establishment in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

The event resulted in the loss of a security guard and left a businessman and a young child with gunshot wounds. The deceased, Harold Bailey, aged 51 and a resident of Mountain View Avenue in Kingston, was on duty at the Cambio when the perpetrators arrived at approximately 5:50 p.m.
It is reported that two armed men alighted from a Toyota Probox and opened fire, injuring the security guard and another individual. The criminals seized bags of money, along with Bailey’s firearm, before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, a schoolboy in the vicinity was found with a gunshot wound to his upper right arm.
The child and the injured businessman are currently hospitalized in stable condition, while Bailey tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The police are actively conducting investigations into the matter.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dean Watson confirmed that the incident occurred around 10 a.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Tension has been gripping the area for several days, with the police striving to restore law and order by deploying additional resources. The situation is exacerbated by long-standing feuds, gang-related activities, and power struggles over donship and territory. Grange Hill Primary Closed After Reports of Gunmen Threatening to Shoot Up the School.
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica–The atmosphere at Grange Hill Primary School in Westmoreland turned tense as parents hastily retrieved their children following reports of gunmen threatening to attack the institution on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024.
In an interview with Observer Online, Clayton Smith, the school’s principal, likened the incident to a disturbing case of déjà vu, recalling a similar event in 2016.
Smith confirmed that the police had verified the threat, prompting the urgent notification of parents. “Parents were very anxious, very disturbed. Some were careful and decided that they were not taking any chance, and so they picked up the children in haste. They came in droves and quickly picked them up,” Smith said.
The principal noted that although the school day commenced at 8 a.m., the premises were nearly deserted by 9 a.m. “The police were contacted. The police, in fact, indicated that the threat is real and there has been sporadic gunfire in the community during the time when the police were coming to the school,” Smith stated.
Additionally, Smith revealed that the police and military assisted in relocating the remaining children to a secure location.
Meanwhile, Observer Online learned that two vehicles sustained gunfire in the community on Tuesday morning. Smith confirmed that a student and parent were in one of the targeted vehicles.
The presence of law enforcement and military personnel has since escalated in the vicinity of Grange Hill.
