A St James woman is charged with the death of her 5-month-old baby.

ST JAMES, Jamaica—The St James Police Division has formally charged a woman with the murder of her five-month-old baby, Destiny Brown, following a disturbing incident at their Barrett Hall, Lilliput, St James home on Tuesday, December 6, 2023.

The accused woman, identified as Shamoya Green, age 27, of a Barrett Hall address, allegedly took her baby to the roof on the third floor of the building and threw her onto the concrete pit in the yard during a distressing altercation with her common-law partner.

Despite swift police response and efforts to transport little Destiny to the hospital, she tragically passed away while receiving treatment.

After an extensive investigation, Green was charged following an interview in the presence of her attorney on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

The community of Westmoreland was shaken by the loss of Marquez Lindo, a resident of Whitehouse, who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in a collision along the Whitehouse Main Road.

The details of the incident are truly heart-wrenching. It is reported that at approximately 8:00 p.m., Lindo was operating his motorcycle along the Whitehouse Main Road, and in an ill-fated attempt to overtake a line of traffic, he veered off course and collided with a white Toyota Voxy motorcar.

The force of the impact caused Lindo to be thrown from his motorcycle, resulting in serious injuries. Despite the efforts of a compassionate bystander who rushed him to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, Lindo’s injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased by the authorities.

This devastating loss has deeply impacted the local community and has added to the already alarming number of road fatalities in the region, bringing the total to 55 since the beginning of the year. The Westmoreland police are investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident as they continue their efforts to improve road safety and prevent further loss of life.

The authorities are making efforts to identify the individuals responsible for the fatal shooting of Kashawn Young, a 26-year-old record producer and owner of Young Don Records.

The incident occurred outside a Corporate Area nightclub on February 24, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Young was targeted by two armed men as he parked his vehicle near the Taboo nightclub along Constant Spring Road in St Andrew. Tragically, he was fatally shot as he exited the vehicle and despite attempting to flee, he was pursued and shot multiple times. During the incident, a 76-year-old bystander sustained gunshot injuries to his hand.

Prompt emergency services response led to the injured being swiftly transported to the hospital. However, Young tragically succumbed to his injuries upon arrival. The other injured individual received medical attention and is in recovery.

Arlando Henry, also known as ‘Ted,’ aged 33 and residing at Ackee Tree Lane in Green Pond, St James, has been formally charged by detectives in St James.

This follows the discovery of a Taurus G3C pistol and three magazines containing 50 rounds of ammunition concealed under a couch in his home.

The police charged Henry with four counts related to firearms, including possession of a prohibited weapon, dealing in prohibited weapons, stockpiling prohibited weapons, and unauthorized use of premises for the storage of firearms and ammunition.

Acting on credible intelligence, law enforcement officers conducted the search on Friday, February 23, 2024, resulting in Henry’s arrest and subsequent charging on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
