The authorities have informed the public of the discovery of skeletal remains believed to belong to the missing dancehall artiste ‘Medikk,’ also known as Stephanie Williams. The remains were found in a cane field in Wallen, St Catherine on Wednesday.
It has been stated that the body will undergo processing for comparison with DNA samples in order to confirm its true identity.
Stephanie Williams was reported missing around Thursday, August 24, 2023, and has not been seen since. Allegedly, her mother filed a missing person report with the Constant Spring police.
In response to the report, the police initiated an investigation into her disappearance, considering the possibility of foul play.
According to the authorities, their investigative efforts included questioning potential witnesses, obtaining statements, and organizing various case conferences. In addition, significant support was provided by the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) Headquarters in Kingston.
The police are urging individuals with relevant information to step forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
An elderly British couple was robbed at a resort in St. Ann.
The Ocho Rios Police are currently conducting an investigation into the robbery of two elderly British nationals at the Jamaica Inn Resort in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, on Wednesday morning, February 14, 2024.
The victims, aged 89 and 81 and retired from London, England, were targeted and relieved of their cash and other valuable belongings.
Reports indicate that at approximately 4:30 am, an armed individual gained entry to the couple’s room through an open balcony door. The perpetrator then proceeded to take two iPhone 13 Pro cellphones, one iPad tablet, gold earrings, and £200 in cash before fleeing the scene.
Following the incident, the hotel’s management promptly informed the Ocho Rios Police–who are actively pursuing the case. Furthermore, authorities reviewed surveillance footage, which revealed the perpetrator climbing over the perimeter wall to access the property.
A St Andrew man who attempted to flee the Island is charged with murder.
A 27-year-old music producer from St. Andrew, who was apprehended at an airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country, has been formally charged with murder. He is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, February 22.
In addition to the murder charge, Shaquille Hudson has also been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
Hudson was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport on Tuesday, February 06, as he was attempting to depart the island.
These charges stem from the shooting death of 23-year-old Troy Beckford, which occurred on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. The police report indicates that a verbal altercation between Beckford and Hudson turned physical at a business establishment, leading to Hudson allegedly brandishing a firearm and fatally shooting Beckford before fleeing the scene.
After being on the run for several years, Hudson was apprehended on February 6, 2024, while attempting to leave the country.
