Schoolgirl abducted and raped in St James, police search for suspects.

The St. James police have initiated a search for a group of individuals accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in St. James on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

According to a reliable source, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the girl was walking to school along the roadway in the Moy Hall community when a white Toyota Mark X with three individuals on board pulled up beside her.

One of the individuals reportedly seized the girl and forced her into the vehicle before driving away.

The girl was allegedly taken to an abandoned building, where the perpetrators assaulted her.

She managed to escape and sought refuge in a nearby house in the Judge Hill community, from where the residents contacted the police.

Law enforcement authorities in Trelawny have launched an investigation to apprehend the individuals responsible for the tragic gun and arson attack on a family in Clarks Town, Trelawny, on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

As per reports, just before midnight on Sunday, January 14, 2024, Cecelia Smith, a shopkeeper in the Clarks Town Community, closed her business and retired to bed with her child’s father at their home in Cockburn Pen in Clarks Town.

Shortly thereafter, two armed assailants forced their way into the property and opened fire on the couple, injuring Smith.

The police have stated that Smith’s common-law husband closed the door to thwart the attackers from gaining entry.

Subsequently, the perpetrators set the house on fire with the wounded woman and her partner barricaded inside.

Law enforcement promptly arrived at the scene and transported Smith to the hospital. Tragically, she passed away due to her injuries on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. She was 28 years old.

Authorities discovered at least 13 expended casings at the location.

According to the reports, on Tuesday evening, the police responded to a property on Kings Avenue after residents reported seeing a man with a firearm. When the officers approached the man, a struggle ensued during which the government-issued Glock pistol, containing nine live rounds, was reportedly found concealed in the man’s waistband.

Further details from the report indicate that the man was found in possession of a mental outpatient card with an address on Waltham Park Road, Kingston 13. He was subsequently taken into custody.
