Gun Shoes assigned to the Kingston Central Police in downtown Kingston, Jamaica, were involved in a shooting that resulted in the death of one man and the injury of another during a confrontation on a Sunday morning.

“According to Superintendent Beresford Williams, head of the Kingston Central police, the officers responded to a break-in on Beckford Street, where the perpetrators opened fire at them. The law enforcement officers responded by returning fire, resulting in two men sustaining gunshot wounds.”
The injured men were promptly transported to the hospital, where one was pronounced dead, and the other was admitted under police guard for treatment.
The officers also recovered a firearm and ammunition, along with stolen goods, at the scene.
Police responded to a double murder in East Kingston.
Kingston Eastern Police were dispatched to the Bayshore Park community in Harbor View, Kingston, on Sunday afternoon, January 7, 2024. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of two men, each with apparent gunshot wounds to their heads and upper bodies.

One of the deceased was identified as Anthony Blake, also known as ‘Nick,’ aged 33, and a resident of the Texaco community in Bayshore Park. The second man remains unidentified, with the police describing him as having a bleach brown complexion, approximately 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and wearing blue jeans, grey underpants, a blue shirt, red Clarks shoes, and sporting an uncombed hairstyle.
“According to Observer Online, the tragic incident unfolded at around 12:30 p.m. with reports of several explosions in the Texaco community. Witnesses observed Blake being pursued by several men who then proceeded to fire shots at him. Blake eventually succumbed to his injuries while the assailants fled into the Bayshore Park community.
Law enforcement swiftly responded, secured the crime scene, and transferred the bodies to the Kingston Public Hospital, where they were officially pronounced deceased.
During the processing of the crime scene, over twenty assorted caliber spent casings were recovered by the police. As of now, no motive for the shooting has been established.”
JCF mourns the death of Detective Sergeant Willie Porter.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is grieving the loss of a dedicated detective sergeant.
The departed officer is Willie Porter, a seasoned law enforcement professional who passed away at the University Hospital of the West Indies on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
It is understood that he was admitted to the hospital on Thursday, January 4, 2023, due to an undisclosed medical issue.
This marks the second loss for the JCF in as many days.
On Friday, a police corporal from the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) also passed away after expressing feeling unwell.
He was rushed to the hospital, where his condition worsened. The cause of the sergeant’s sudden illness remains unclear.
