A police constable in Jamaica has been arrested by the Police High Command on suspicion of engaging in marijuana trafficking. The 28-year-old constable was stationed at the guardroom of the Montego Bay Police Station in St. James.

The authorities discovered the illegal drugs and a significant amount of cash in the constable’s possession on the police station’s premises on Friday, January 05, 2024.
Reports indicate that the constable was inside his vehicle when the authorities conducted a search, leading to the seizure of a substantial sum of money and contraband, including marijuana.
Subsequently, the constable was taken into custody pending further investigation.
Bus Park brawl left one teen in hospital and three others in police custody.
On Saturday, January 6, 2024, in St Ann, law enforcement officers were called to Brown’s Town Bus Park, where they apprehended three adolescents in connection with the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy. These individuals are currently in custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Reports indicate that at approximately 8 p.m., the victim was at the bus park when a confrontation arose between him and three teens, aged 14, 15, and 16, escalating into a physical altercation. During the altercation, one of the teens brandished a knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds to the victim’s upper body.
Family members reportedly rushed the victim to the hospital, where he was admitted for medical care. Subsequently, the police conducted an investigation leading to the arrest of the teenagers on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
The injured boy continues to receive medical treatment at the hospital.
