Popular Dancehall artiste and Unruly Fest promoter Popcaan, whose real name is Andre Sutherland, is facing five charges for his conduct at the staging of Unruly Fest in Yallahs, St. Thomas, in December 2023.
Law enforcement authorities served Popcaan with a summons at the Police Area 5 Headquarters in Kingston, notifying him that he had been indicted on misdemeanor charges relating to his behavior at Unruly Fest. These charges include the use of indecent language, disorderly conduct, using abusive and calumnious language, issuing a threat to police officers, and breaches of the Noise Abatement Act.
The event was shut down by the police after the promoters exceeded the allowed time for its staging, leading to a conflict where Popcaan directed threatening and abusive language at the police.
