Policeman among three detained for Clarendon murder.

Law enforcement agencies have detained three individuals, including a fellow officer and his partner, in relation to the homicide of Danny Lowe on December 27 in the vicinity of Longville Park Boulevard, Clarendon.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications division has verified the detentions and specified that the officer is also being probed for potential violations of the Firearms Act.

Despite this, the authorities have chosen not to disclose any specifics about the investigation due to its early stage. Nevertheless, they have pledged to keep the public informed as additional information becomes available.

“The Jamaica Constabulary Force is committed to ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter, involving all relevant parties to ensure a comprehensive review of the facts,” the statement said.

Police charged deported man with decades-old murder.

Gum Shoes, assigned to the St Catherine South Police Division, has apprehended and pressed charges against a long-sought suspect for a murder that occurred twenty-two years ago.

The individual in question, identified as Anthony Reid, also known as ‘Christopher Reid’ and ‘Christopher Barrett’, aged 47, and a resident of Marlie Acres, Old Harbour, St Catherine, has been linked to the murder of Dinsdale Heslop, also known as ‘Prince’, aged 26, of Amberly Close, Portsmouth in Portmore, St Catherine.

The accused allegedly fatally stabbed Heslop at a bar in Northern Parade in Portsmouth on Thursday, December 20, 2001, at 10:30 p.m. Shortly after the incident, the accused purportedly fled to the United States of America (USA). On Thursday, December 21, 2023, US authorities deported Reid back to Jamaica after a period of incarceration in the USA.

Following his return to the island, local law enforcement took him into custody and proceeded to interrogate and formally charge him for the crime that occurred decades ago. The suspect’s court appearance date is yet to be determined.

Hoodlums killed ‘Bug’ during an armed robbery at Westmoreland bar.

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Tragedy struck in the Ashton district of Westmoreland when two men were shot, one of them fatally, during an armed robbery at a local bar on Thursday night, December 28, 2023.

The deceased has been identified as Alfred Buckridge, also known as ‘Bug,’ a 32-year-old farmer from the Ashton community.

According to the Savanna-la-Mar police, the harrowing incident unfolded around 10:55 p.m. as Buckridge and other patrons were at the bar. Armed individuals entered the establishment and proceeded to rob the patrons. In an attempt to escape, Buckridge and another man ran, but they were pursued and subsequently shot by the assailants, who then fled the scene on foot.

Responding authorities swiftly transported the injured men to the hospital, where Buckridge succumbed to his injuries and the other individual received medical treatment.

Law enforcement agencies have intensified their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this heinous act.

Police charged a Hanover man with robbery of a bicycle. 

Suspect Charged with Robbery in Hanover, Jamaica

A 32-year-old man has been charged with robbery with violence following an incident in Archwell, Green Island, Hanover, on Saturday, December 23. The police have identified the accused as Lenford Gayle, also known as ‘Lenny,’ 32, a laborer from Beach Road, Green Island.

According to the Lucea police, at about 6:00 a.m., the complainant was riding his bicycle along the road when he encountered Gayle, with whom he has had a longstanding feud. Gayle allegedly used a piece of board to assault the complainant, causing him to fall off his bicycle. Gayle then reportedly made off with the bicycle.

The complainant promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to Gayle’s arrest and charging.

The accused’s court appearance date is pending.
