Crime Roundup: Bloodshed at SilverSun Construction site in Innswood, St Catherine. Construction workers handed over the murder suspect to the police.
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Law enforcement officers in St Catherine responded to a shooting scene at a construction site, where a man was fatally shot at the SilverSun Estate in Innswood, Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Friday afternoon, November 10, 2023.

The authorities identified the deceased as Camoy Beckford, also known as ‘Ras,’ aged 37, a late construction worker and resident of 13 Mansfield Avenue in Homestead, St Catherine.
According to reports, at about 1:00 p.m., Beckford and fellow construction workers were on the site when a group of armed men approached him and opened fire, hitting him in the upper body before escaping.
The police responded and found Beckford lying on his back in an unfinished house with gunshot wounds to the head and upper body.
The police rushed him to the Spanish Town Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
Meanwhile, Beckford’s fellow workers chased and caught one of the suspects and handed him over to the police.
Detectives from the Spanish Town Police Station are investigating.

Head of the St Catherine North Police, Senior Superintendent Howard Chambers, said the incident occurred at a section of the housing project under construction at the SilverSun Estate, Innswood, in St Catherine.
Reports state that at about 1:05 p.m., Beckford was working along with others on the site when a group of armed men attacked and shot him multiple times in his upper body.
Fellow construction workers held the suspect as the attackers tried to escape after the shooting. The suspect is in custody at the Spanish Town Police Station, pending formal charges.
The police did not establish a motive for the attack. The investigation continues.
The SilverSun housing development is a state-owned National Housing Trust project.
