LIONEL TOWN, CLARENDON, JAMAICA–A man regarded as one of Clarendon’s most notorious gangsters was shot and killed by unknown assailants in Lionel Town, Clarendon, on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

The authorities identified the deceased as Kevin Mitchell, also known as ‘Kukan,’ aged 34, a former shop owner residing on Church Street in Lionel Town.
According to reports, Mitchell was attacked by armed men as he attempted to make an illegal connection to a utility pole.
The gunmen fired multiple shots, hitting Mitchell in the upper body and head before fleeing the scene.
The police promptly responded and transported Mitchell to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the reports, Mitchell’s criminal activities had caught up with him. He had been under police surveillance for some time and was the subject of several investigations relating to his involvement in gang activities.
The police stated that Mitchell was linked to the murders of two women in the neighboring Alley community in 2018, as well as the murder of a man in Lionel Town in 2020.
He was allegedly a high-ranking member of the Savannah Gang, which has played a significant role in the recent increase in crime and gang violence in Lionel Town and its surroundings.
The police have theorized that Mitchell was eliminated by rival criminals.
Police charged a Westmoreland suspect with businessman Youngming’s murder.
BETHEL TOWN, WESTMORELAND, Jamaica– Detectives in Westmoreland have charged a man from Bethel Town with several felonies, including murder, stemming from a shooting and robbery incident at a store in Deans Valley, Westmoreland, on October 8, 2023.
The police have charged Naveedo Scarlett, also known as “Nick,” aged 27, a resident of York District in Bethel Town, Westmoreland, with murder, aggravated robbery, intent to wound, using a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
The Whithorn police report stated that on October 8, 2023, around noon, 52-year-old Tian Youngming, also known as “Ken,” was in his store in Deans Valley, Westmoreland, when armed men entered the premises and demanded money.
The men proceeded to rob Youngming of an undetermined sum of money. While leaving the store, the men opened fire, hitting Youngming and two other men before escaping with the cash and other items.
The police swiftly responded and found the three men suffering from gunshot wounds.
The officers rushed the victims to the hospital, where authorities pronounced Youngming dead and admitted the others for treatment.
The officers launched an investigation, and on November 1, 2023, they arrested Scarlett during an operation. The authorities subsequently charged him on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
Scarlett is scheduled to appear at the Westmoreland Parish Court on November 14, 2023.
