Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica – The Portland Police Department seeks residents’ help to locate two suspects wanted for sexual offenses committed in the division.
The authorities identified the suspects as Javier Johnson, o/c ‘Jabez,’ age unknown, a resident of Port Antonio. The police want him for rape. Shane Thompson, of a St John’s Road address in Spanish Town, St Catherine, is wanted for having sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 16.
Commanding officer for the Portland police division, Lloyd Darby, says Johnson frequents several communities in the parish, including Prospect Land Settlement, Hector’s River, and Long Road.
Anyone with information that can assist the police in bringing the suspects mentioned earlier to justice should contact the nearest police station or call Police 911.
DOWNTOWN KINGSTON, JAMAICA–Members of the law enforcement fraternity, including CTOC and PSTEB, arrested five men on Friday, October 27, 2023, in downtown Kingston on suspicion of extortion during Operation Transportation Streamline, geared toward cracking down on extortion of public passenger vehicles operators.
Since its launch on September 4, 2023, Operation Transportation Streamline crackdown has resulted in 21 arrests for extortion and breaches of the Road Traffic Act.
Operation Transportation Streamline is a joint initiative involving the Police, the Transport Authority, and the Island Traffic Authority. The operation addresses several issues in the PPV industry, including extortion, overcharging, vehicular defects, and undisciplined driving.
According to a release from the Police, over 60 persons have been arrested and charged for overcharging passengers since the start of the operation. Meanwhile, over 50 registration plates have been removed for vehicular defects. The Police have issued more than 1,000 traffic tickets to PPV operators for various breaches of the Road Traffic Act.
The Police urge members of the public to report incidents of extortion of any sort. Affected citizens can report violations via Crime Stop at 311, Police Emergency at 119, or the PSTEB Tip Line at (876) 591 5671.
Matthew Perry, famous for his role as Chandler Bing in the hit series ‘Friends’, has passed away at the age of 56.
According to the Los Angeles Times and TMZ, Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles home. The cause of death appeared to be drowning, but no official statement has been released. Perry’s publicists and representatives have not commented on the news.
During his 10 seasons on Friends, Perry became a well-known actor, starring alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer. The show centered around a group of friends in New York, with Chandler playing the sarcastic yet insecure roommate of Joey and Ross. By the end of the series, Chandler had married Monica, played by Cox, and they had started a family.
Friends was a hugely popular show and has gained a new generation of fans through streaming services. It aired from 1994 to 2004, and a reunion special in 2021 brought the cast together again to discuss the show.
In addition to his role on Friends, Perry received Emmy nominations for his appearances on The West Wing, where he played an associate White House counsel. He also had notable film roles in the romantic comedy Fools Rush In alongside Salma Hayek and the crime comedy The Whole Nine Yards with Bruce Willis.
