On Monday, October 16, 2023, Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) members seized over 320 devices they suspected to be explosives. According to the authorities, the officers recovered the unidentified devices at a Darling Street premises in Kingston during an operation.
The Police braggingly stated that the operation results from high-quality intelligence obtained through the diligent use of various technologies and other methodologies.
The spokesperson said experts are conducting tests to ascertain the exact nature of the substances found.
The Police declined to share specific details but promised to update the public when appropriate.
The JCF charged that the discovery of more than 320 devices is a testament to the robust intelligence-gathering capacity of Jamaica’s law enforcement agencies and underscores their unyielding commitment to ensuring the safety of Jamaicans.
The JCF spokesperson also commended the joint police-military team, arguing that they conducted the operation incident-free.
Teen girl charged after she and others allegedly stole cabbie’s car.
East Kingston Gum Shoes charged a 17-year-old girl after she and two other suspects reportedly used the ride-hailing inDrive application to request a taxi and then held up and robbed the operator of his vehicle.
The Police charged the unnamed minor with robbery with aggravation.
According to reports, at about 1:00 p.m. on August 4, 2023, the teen and her accomplices used the inDrive application and requested a cab pick them up from Arnold Road in Kingston 4.
Upon arrival, the trio brandished a gun and robbed the taxi operator of his Toyota Probox motor car.
The complainant reported the matter to the Police. The authorities launched an investigation.
Law enforcement officers subsequently arrested the teen and charged her with robbery after a question-and-answer session. The complainant positively identified her during an identification parade.
Her court appearance date is pending.
Fisherman charged with Canadian wife’s Murder in Clarendon.

CLARENDON, Jamaica – Police in Clarendon charged a Clarendon fisherman with the murder of his Canadian resident wife in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, in May 2023.
The Police charged Rory Palmer, age 28, a fisherman of Portland Cottage in Clarendon, with murder.
The authorities identified the dead woman as Jaeda Whitehead, age 28, of Mars, Toronto, Canada, and Sharers Heights, Portland Cottage, Clarendon.
The Lionel Town Law enforcement authorities said Palmer and his spouse had a physical dispute at about 4:00 p.m. on May 12, 2023. Palmer threw a fan at her during the mele, hitting her in the face. Then he slammed her head into a wall several times.
The Police responded to the scene and found Whitehead lying in a bed, unresponsive.
Hospital officials pronounced her dead on arrival.
According to reports, the Police had charged Palmer with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
However, following further investigations and consultation with the ODDP, the authorities upgraded the charge to murder.
Whitehead was a late school board employee in Toronto, Canada, and was visiting her husband to celebrate their anniversary when she died.
Palmer’s court appearance date is pending.
‘Mad One’ charged with Murder of St Catherine businessman on Featherbed Lane.
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – St Catherine detectives charged a painter that the streets called ‘Mad One’ with the murder of a St Catherine businessman on Featherbed Lane in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on July 21, 2018.
The Police charged suspect Corey Rutherford, o/c ‘Mad One,’ age 31, painter of Frazers Boulevard, Frazers Content, in St Catherine, with murder and burglary.
The authorities identified the dead businessman as Xiang Qi, age 39, late businessman of Featherbed Lane, Spanish Town, St Catherine.
The report stated that at about 6:00 a.m., Rutherford and others broke, entered Qi’s private quarters, and bound his hands and feet. Then, they inflicted several stab wounds to his body and head before escaping.
Rutherford is a hardened criminal who the authorities alleged to be the hitman concerning the Murder of an American, Shirnet Hammond, on September 23, 2023.
Thugs shot and killed Hammond while traveling in a taxi from a funeral at Meadowrest in St Catherine.
The Police are probing Rutherford’s possible involvement in several murders in the Frazer’s Content area of St Catherine.
