According to law enforcement officers in Hanover, a pillion rider allegedly shot and injured a cop at a traffic stop along Cousin Cove Main Road in the parish on Wednesday afternoon, October 11, 2023. 

The authorities said the police officer’s injuries were not life-threatening and that he received appropriate medical care.

According to the authorities, two police officers signaled a motorcyclist carrying a pillion to stop. The bike slowed down, and instead of stopping, the pillion rider pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting one of the cops.

The JCF is investigating the matter to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The Police are asking anyone with information that can assist the investigation is being asked to come forward.

Manchester bar owner shot dead, and one patron wounded in Manchester robbery.

MANCHESTER, Jamaica— On Wednesday night, October 11, 2023, gunmen shot and killed a Manchester bar owner and injured one of his customers during a robbery in Huntley, Manchester. 

The authorities identified the deceased as Christopher Stultz, o/c ‘Blacks’ and ‘Rabat.’

According to reports, at about 8:30 p.m., Stultz was at his bar in the Manchester community with patrons when four masked gunmen held up the establishment.

The gunmen demanded cellphones, cash, and other valuables from patrons at the bar. Then, they opened fire at Stultz, hitting him in the upper body multiple times. One patron was also shot and wounded during the robbery.

The gunmen reportedly fled the scene in two cars.

Hospital officials pronounced Stultz dead and admitted the injured in critical condition.

Two in custody following gun, ammo seizure in St Thomas

 ST THOMAS, Jamaica— On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, Police in St. Thomas arrested two suspects following the seizure of a Glock pistol with a magazine containing 15 cartridges in Orange Walk, Golden Grove, St Thomas. 

The Golden Grove Police said, at about 8:30 a.m., a team of police officers were on duty in the Orange Walk community when they observed the suspects, one of whom had a bag.

On seeing the Police, the man reportedly handed his bag to his accomplice. The accomplice attempted to elude the Police. But the Police accosted and searched him.

During the search, the Police found the weapon and the ammunition in his bag.

The Police took both men into custody pending further investigations.
