On Monday, October 9, 2023, law enforcement officers in St. James arrested three suspects following the seizure of one UZI sub-machine firearm with several rounds of assorted ammunition during a targeted snap raid in Hurlock community, St James.
At about 3:20 p.m., the Police conducted an operation in the community and searched a targeted premise. During the search, the cops found the deadly weapon, ammunition, and a ballistic vest.
The Police arrested the three suspects present at the premises. The authorities withheld their identity pending further investigation.
An electrical fire at Mandeville Police Station damaged the Superintendent’s office.
MANCHESTER, Jamaica— On Monday, October 9, 2023, the Mandeville Fire Department responded to a fire at the Mandeville Police Station, Manchester.
The fire, which started in Superintendent Shane McCalla’s office fire, is believed to have been ignited by an electrical defect that damaged the office.
According to media reports, at about 7:00 p.m., smoke was seen coming from the Superintendent’s office at the Mandeville Police Station. Officers made checks and observed that appliances in the office were on fire.
The cops raised the alarm, and the fire department responded with two units and extinguished the fire.
According to reporting, a microwave, a refrigerator, and an air conditioning unit were among the items damaged.
Two women killed in Trelawny crash
Police in Trelawny confirmed that two women died tragically from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision along the Braco main road on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
The authorities identified the victims as Daun Allen, age 39, a late resident of Steer Town, St. Ann, and Sharon Hacket, age 53, a late resident of Linstead St. Catherine.
At around 5 p.m., Allen was driving her Toyota Altis motor car heading towards Falmouth when it reportedly got out of control and collided with Hackett’s Mitsubishi Canter heading in the opposite direction.
Hospital authorities at the Falmouth Hospital pronounced the injured women dead on arrival.
The Falmouth police are continuing investigations.
