The Clarendon police responded to the scene of a quadruple murder at a cook shop in the Summerfield community in Chapleton, Clarendon, early Wednesday morning, October 2023.

The authorities identified the dead men as Kish Brown, age 44, of Summerfield, Theo Manning, Darrel Manning, and another man known as ‘Thumper’ or ‘Ras.’

According to preliminary reports, residents in the community reportedly heard several explosions at about 1:00 a.m. and alerted the Police.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found the four bodies with multiple gunshot wounds.

Beach chairs replacing beds at Savanna-la-Mar Hospital.

According to reporting, there is an apparent lagging bed crisis at the Savanna-la-Mar hospital in Westmoreland. The Western Jamaica medical facility administrators, have had to use beach chairs to accommodate patients at its accident and emergency ward. 

The hospital’s chief executive officer, Camille Lewin, has said the hospital has beds in stock, but she needs somewhere to put them.

She explained that the hospital has a bed capacity of 190, but as of Tuesday morning, they were experiencing an influx of approximately 100 additional patients, many without beds.

Police made a major contraband seizure at Negril lock-up during a mandatory cell search.

Law enforcement authorities in Westmoreland have launched a probe to determine how inmates at the Negril lock-up in Westmoreland came in possession of contraband, including molly pills, knives, and cigarettes.

The Police discovered the items during a mandatory cell search at the six-celled facility on Monday, October 2, 2023.

Items found by the Police are 21 ecstasy/molly pills, seven knives, packs of cigarettes, seven SIM cards, 27 cellular phones, 15 phone chargers, 17 earphones, 20 razor blades, 36 lighters, $9,000 cash, a small quantity of ganja and items of jewelry.
