The police fatally shot a suspect in Westmoreland, INDECOM is investigating.

On Sunday, September 24, 2023, a law enforcement officer in Westmoreland shot and killed a male suspect during a confrontation.

The police identified the deceased as Randol Reid, o/c ‘Peco,’ age 33, of Ancho district in Whithorn, Westmoreland.

The police said the incident occurred along the Whithorn main road. And they seized one Luger Glock pistol fitted with a magazine containing eight 9mm rounds at the scene.

The police’s Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Investigations are investigating the incident.

Domestic helper charged with sacrilege

East Kingston police charged a female suspect with sacrilege after she allegedly broke into a Church on Windward Road in Kingston 2 and stole valuable items on Friday, September 22, 2023.

The police identified the suspect as Kedeesha Swaby, age 37, a domestic helper from a Belmont Road, Kingston 2 address. 

According to the police report, at about 2:40 p.m., the pastor securely locked his Church and left. 

At about 3:40 a.m. the following day, the security system at the Church alerted him that someone had broken into the premises.

The pastor summoned the police, and the police responded. Upon arrival, the police caught Swaby with some of the stolen items. Her male accomplice escaped.

The police charged Swaby on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Her court appearance date is pending.

Judge granted bail for US citizen charged following fatal crash in St. Elizabeth. 

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – On Monday, September 25, 2023, the United States citizen charged with causing death by dangerous driving concerning last Friday’s fatal crash on the Font Hill main road in St. Elizabeth was granted a $300,000 bail bond by a St. Elizabeth Parish judge. 

Caleb Ampiah-Davis is a resident of Utah in the United States.

The fatal collision took the lives of Savanna-La-Mar Primary School Spanish teacher Danielle Blake, 31, and taxi operator Hector Munroe.

Police said Ampiah-Davis was the driver of a Mitsubishi L200 that collided with the taxi. He is due back in court in St. Elizabeth on November 23, 2023.

Reports are that at about 11:30 a.m., a Mitsubishi L200, heading towards Black River, swerved to avoid a pothole and collided with the taxi in which Blake was a passenger.

The authorities pronounced Blake dead at the hospital while they admitted the other victims for treatment. 

Munroe succumbed at the hospital on Monday.

Six other people got injured in the incident.
