KINGSTON, Jamaica – Two brothers and a cousin were gunned down by unknown assailants posing as police officers in Chisholm Avenue, St. Andrew, early Saturday morning, September 23, 2023.

Law enforcement authorities confirmed the shooting and identified the deceased as Alex Orlando Ricketts, age 28, a mason, Neva ‘Fatta’ Ricketts, age 31, and Dwight ‘Rasta’ Henry, age 48, a delivery man, all late residents of the same Chisholm Avenue address in Kingston 13. 

The Ricketts are brothers, and Henry is their cousin.

According to reports, at about 1:15 a.m., Saturday morning, September 23, 2023, three men armed with rifles posing as police officers entered the compound and took the three men from their dwelling.

The armed thugs took the three men to another dwelling on the compound and opened gunfire, hitting all three men in the upper body before escaping on foot. 

The three victims died on the spot.

The police did not establish a motive for the shooting.

The investigation continues.

The St. Mary cops gunned down a hotel worker. 

ST MARY, Jamaica – Detectives in St. Mary launched an investigation into the shooting death of a hotel worker by the police after he allegedly pointed a gun at a police patrol on Friday, September 22, 2023.

The St. Mary Criminal Investigations Branch is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a hotel worker who was reportedly shot and killed by the police after allegedly pointing a firearm at them during a patrol on Friday.

The authorities identified the deceased as Sheldon Anderson, age 23, of Marston Town, Oracabessa, in St Mary.

According to the police, at about midday, law enforcement officers were on patrol when a man ran upon the approach of the police. Then, the police saw the man throw an object into the bushes.

The police pursued the suspect. Anderson, who was on the road, reportedly picked up the object and pointed it at the police. 

The police took evasive action and subsequently shot Anderson.

The police took Anderson to the Port Maria Hospital, where authorities pronounced him dead.

The investigation continues.
