According to the Commander of St. James, acting SSP Eron Thompson, the suspect brandished a Springfield 9mm pistol and pointed it at the police.

Acting Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of St James, Eron Thompson, said the man, who remains unidentified, was shot after he allegedly pulled a Springfield 9mm pistol and pointed it at the police. 

The police rushed him to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.

The police are yet to identify the deceased. 

According to the police incident at about 10:40 a.m., the police were active along the Guava Walk Main road in Unity Hall. They spotted the suspect acting suspiciously. The police allegedly accosted the suspect, and he brandished a firearm and pointed it at the police. The police shot and killed him and recovered one Springfield 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seven 9mm cartridges.

A Bogwalk supermarket worker allegedly caught on camera stealing over $200,000

The St. Catherine police arrested and charged a suspect allegedly caught on surveillance cameras stealing more than $200,000 from his employer at a supermarket in Bogwalk, St. Catherine.

The police identified the suspect as Michael Baugh, age 19, a Riversdale District, St. Catherine resident. 

The Bogwalk police charged Baugh with simple larceny on Friday, September 8, 2023.

The police report stated that at about 2 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, management at the supermarket discovered that monies were missing and summoned the police.

Upon arrival, the police checked the surveillance camera footage, which showed Baugh removing the money from the supermarket along Main Street.

The police arrested Baugh arrested. 

The monies he stole include US$678, CAN$ 680, and J$47,000.  

The case is set for mention in the St Catherine Parish Court on September 20, 2023.
