ST ANN, Jamaica – The St. Ann police reported that on Thursday, August 31, 2023, armed thugs attacked and robbed a truck driver in Moneague, St. Ann. The robbers reportedly took the victim’s vehicle and all his cash. Then, they shot and injured him before escaping.
According to reports, the victim is 47 years old and resides in Linstead, St Catherine. He has been hospitalized in serious condition.
At about 1:15 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2023, the victim was at a Hardware Store in Three Miles, St Andrew. A man approached and chartered the vehicle to transport plyboards from Moneague, St Ann.
Upon arriving in Moneague, the client diverted the truck’s driver to an address on Hull Street in the parish. Upon reaching the house, two other men armed with guns were waiting.
The police said the gunmen attacked and robbed the driver of $35,000, his driver’s license, and his Isuzu motor truck, reportedly valued at $2.5 million.
One of the gunmen fired two shots in his direction, hitting him in his right side.
Citizens summoned the police. The police transported the victim to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him in serious condition.
The Moneague police have since launched an investigation and a search for the truck.
